At Teethbuddies Pediatric Dentistry, it is always our goal to save your child’s natural teeth. Sometimes, however, we may determine that it is necessary to perform an extraction. This may be because a tooth is severely decayed; has advanced periodontal disease, or has broken in a way that cannot be repaired. Other times, teeth may need removal because they are poorly positioned in the mouth (such as impacted teeth), or in preparation for orthodontic treatment.
Whatever the reason, we are here to make the process and comfortable and easy as possible. Pediatric extractions are typically relatively simple and fast. We will work with you to determine the best type of anesthesia for your child. After the extraction is complete, the dentist will apply gauze to the site to ensure proper healing. You may also use ice to prevent swelling. Your child should stick to a soft diet and limit physical activity for about a day. Typically, normal activities can be resumed in about 24 hours.
At Teethbuddies Pediatric Dentistry, our goal is for your child maintain healthy teeth for a lifetime. In order to achieve this, we work to make the dentist a pleasant place to visit.
